The most common definition of a vintage car is that which is built
between the start of 1919 and the end of 1930. The beginning of the
vintage era is clearly earmarked by the end of the First World War.
Hence there is very little debate on that count. But the British and the
Americans are divided on the end of the vintage period. The Americans
define 1925 as the pre-classic car period and the end of the vintage
period; while the British clearly stick to 1930.While some others
consider the beginning of the Second World War as the end of the vintage
period.
The vintage period saw a lot of transition in the automobile industry.
Cars had become more than a means to negotiate difficult roads.
Convenience and comfort had improved. Cars of the vintage period gather
so much curiosity and interest because it was a luxury good at that time
owned only by the elite in the society.
